Exciting news for South Sea Cargo as the first voyage of the new barge departed from Port Vila and headed up to Santo and Malekula.

The extended capacity now accommodates up to 30 containers, providing efficient shipping for the people of Vanuatu.

“This has been 18 months in the planning and to see her first trip was a great sight” – SSC Manager, Anthony Tonner said.

South Sea Cargo offers the first door-to-door containerised freight service which allows businesses, producers, farmers and retailers to have confidence that their goods will arrive on time and in good condition.

Besides delivering containers, South Sea Cargo is able to transport new water tanks and vehicles to the outer islands as well as the many luxury items available from Port Vila.

Safety plays a big role in a large operation, and SSC Captain Derrickson Unlaim has said “Safety first, that’s how we operate”.

With the entire crew having followed all maritime compliances and were fully briefed on Safety and Standard Operating Procedures before the voyage departed.
