vssc081n - Post cyclone

After Port Vila was hit with 2 Tropical Cyclones; Judy and Kevin on the 3rd of March, it was a great success that just after a week, the South Sea Cargo team were ready to depart again.

Both cyclones has caused damage throughout Vanuatu, including the capital, Port Vila.

There were massive challenges to overcome and to get back on track after the disaster.

Most areas were without power for a couple of days and some other areas took weeks to receive power again. With some damage done down at the wharf, it is still quite an achievement that South Sea Cargo were able to get containers loaded and moving a week after both TCs.

The first voyage since the Cyclone took place on the 12th of March and during the HMAS Canberra from Australia was docked in the Port Vila harbour.

It can be seen in the background of the below image, along with devastation the Cyclone left among the hilltop.

It was a successful voyage though and the people of Malekula and Santo were thrilled to receive their containers after all of the Cyclone drama.
