vssc086n - operations continue despite the weather

South Sea Cargo’s 86th voyage took place on 21st May, they departed from Port Vila and headed north to Malekula. After delivering all FCL and LCL containers to Malekula, the frozen goods were also delivered to the Lakatoro customers and then the team prepared for the next operation in Santo.

While the weather has been wet and cloudy more recently, the team still strive on to complete the job!

When working in the wet weather the team have to use extra precaution when moving containers, driving the trucks on the ramps and avoid slippery surfaces. The team know to put safety first and good communication is essential.

Among the usual cargo that is delivered to the regular customers in Santo and Malekula, there are also LCL containers packed with various supplies. On this voyage, a customer had some local house roofing thatched materials, that needed to be transported with care, so the goods would be delivered in good condition.

While the weather continues to be a challenge, especially this time of year, the team are packing up the remaining cargo in Malekula before returning to Port Vila within the next few days.

During this voyage we also shipped frozen meat from ‘Santo Meat Packers’ back to HXM (Vanuatu Butchery) on this trip. The Department of Biosecurity were present when we loaded the meat in Santo and also when we unpacked it in Port Vila, ensuring South Sea Cargo are complying with Vanuatu’s Safety and Hygiene criteria.
